What do our workshops offer?

We understand that emotions are a vital part of a child's growth and development. Our workshops are thoughtfully designed to assist children in identifying and processing three significant emotions: Anger, Sadness, and Fear. Through interactive games, engaging activities, and the heartwarming tale of Arlo and the Orca, we provide children with coping strategies and tools to navigate their emotions with courage.

The Little Hearts Workshop is a playful and immersive experience for our youngest learners. Using captivating puppets and a colourful parachute, children learn how to handle feelings of sadness, anger, and fear in a safe and enjoyable environment. This workshop also emphasizes identifying a "safe person" and understanding how to seek help when needed.

Workshop One is a dynamic blend of games, exercises, and the enchanting narrative of Arlo and the Orca. Through these activities, children explore different emotions and discover effective strategies to manage them. Equipped with coping tools they can add to their own emotional toolboxes, young participants learn to navigate stormy days with confidence. They also gain insight into identifying their support network and recognizing when to ask for assistance.

Workshop Two is a journey through emotions, specifically tailored for children aged 9-13. Through a mixture of engaging games, exercises, and activities, our participants dive deeper into the world of emotions. This workshop promotes emotional intelligence, assisting children in understanding and managing their emotions. Alongside the Arlo and the Orca story, Workshop Two also provides valuable guidance on where to find help when needed, including contact numbers for 24/7 support.

Kōwhai Heart Workshops

My Commitment

Kōwhai Heart Books is dedicated to fostering emotional resilience in children. Our workshops don't just end when the session is over - each workshop includes follow-up activities for teachers to help reinforce the lessons in the classroom. These exercises make sure that the knowledge acquired during the workshops is integrated into the process of learning on a regular basis. There is also an option of a follow up workshop if requested.

The workshops, which typically last around 60 - 90 minutes, are designed to be accessible across various locations, with Auckland being the main hub due to high demand and available funding. While the workshops are presently conducted in Auckland, if you're situated outside this area and wish to bring these educational sessions to your school or students, we encourage you to reach out to us.

Kōwhai Heart Books is excited to collaborate with educators, parents, and institutions to provide children with the tools they need to navigate their emotions with resilience and confidence. To learn more about my workshops or to schedule a session, please contact me.
